Sally Ironmonger
Sally Ironmonger is a singer-songwriter based in Medway, who writes and performs in collaboration with her husband, Brian Carter, and often with other excellent musicians. Her songs sit very comfortably within the genres of folk, roots, poetry and comedy, and have featured on a number of BBC documentaries. The songs also have the ability to trap the listener into thinking .... I've been there ... I've done that. Familiarity - yes, that's the word. They can be found performing at festivals, clubs, and other venues, and have recently been supporting artists for Barbara Dickson, Jacqui McShee, Chris Wood & Jez Lowe.
"If you can relate to the playful words of Jake Thackray, working class roots of Billy Bragg and rangey vocal of Kirsty McColl, you're going to adore ... Sally Ironmonger." (pennyblackmusic)
"Love it when you hear a great song for the first time. Happened last night when Sally Ironmonger performed her song 'No Ships' at the Tom Thumb Theatre." (Jez Lowe)
"Really enjoyed sharing a night in concert with Sally & Brian. Good raw British lyrics with no frills and great songs about old Kent and nostalgia further afield. You could say it was a raspberry ripple moment, a bit tasty and a real treat, my pleasure guys." (Richard Digance)
"A swaying easy tune, gorgeously sung, betraying a lyric bite." (Bof Whalley)
"Teasing, thought-provoking, foot-tapping, belly-laughing, ale swigging, murdering, schizophrenic, tear-inducing wordsmith." (pennyblackmusic)
